Arizona Genealogy Birth and Death Certificates

Talk about doing genealogy in your pajamas: Plug in an ancestor’s name and a few clicks take you to a PDF of a birth certificate (1855 to 1936) or death certificate (1844 to 1961) you can print or download.

BYU Idaho

The Western States Marriage Index here includes more than 700,000 mostly early marriage records from 12 Western states; 18th century New Mexico marriages are being added. Look for Japanese ancestors in Utah, Idaho or Wyoming in a database of 1887-to-1924 records. Idaho resources include the Idaho State Death Index (1911-1956) and Eastern Idaho Death Records.

Colorado Historic Newspaper Collection

This collection of more than 500,000 digitized pages from 163 newspapers published in Colorado from 1859 to 1923 stands out not only for its content, but also its usability. You can browse, search the whole collection or specific titles, and narrow your search to articles, images or ads. Finds go into My Collection, a temporary personal clipping file.

Nevada Census Database

Search 310,000 complete transcriptions of Nevada federal census records, 1860 through 1880 and 1900 through 1920, at this State Historic Preservation Office site. Just click on the Nevada Census Database link on the right to get started.

Utah State History

The searchable Cemetery Records database from the Utah State Historical Society covers more than 556,000 people
buried in Utah cemeteries. Or you can find out what they looked like when still alive among thousands of historical photographs online.

Washington State Digital Archives

A digitization pioneer, this superb state website lets you search nearly 30 million records by names, keywords or any combination of record series, county and title. Among the total of 100 million genealogical and historical records here are indexes to 347 cemeteries, vital records, censuses, naturalizations and land records.
