Everybody’s Doing It

EVERYBODY’S DOING IT

Researching family history is not just for the few, the proud, the hard-core genealogists anymore. Sixty percent of Americans — that’s more than 122 million adults — are interested in tracing their family history, up from 45 percent in 1995, according to a recent poll by Maritz Marketing Research. Of those who are interested, half say they have created a family tree. More than one-third have traveled to an ancestral hometown or country, and about the same number have used the Internet to search for genealogical information.
