If you thought you’d found every Jewish resource there is in the Family History Library, think again. A new index to all Jewish items in the world’s largest genealogy collection may reveal books, articles and records you weren’t aware of. You can search the index online at <www.jewishgen.org/databases/fhlc>.

Also, five major records indexes were just added to a surname database from Jewish genealogy publisher Avotaynu. The Consolidated Jewish Surname Index now searches 31 sources, including databases from Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, Latvia and the Jewish-Gen Family Finder. That’s 2 million-plus records and 370,000 unique surnames to search in one place: <www.avotaynu.com/csi/csi-home.html>. Browse the database for spelling variations and use it to track down records from a variety of sources.
