Bibliophiles and family historians alike will want to check out the latest online exhibit at the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin. The Ransom Outer recently digitized a copy of the first book printed with movable type, the Gutenberg Bible. Printed at Johann Gutenberg’s shop in Mainz, Germany, between 1454 and 1455, the Ransom Center’s Bible is one of only 21 complete copies of the Gutenberg Bible in the world — and just five in the United States. You can view digital images of the Bible, including the large illuminated letters in volume I and the numerous handwritten annotations, and read about its history online at <www.hrc.utexas.edu/exhibittons/permanent/gutenberg>.
