This Old House

“One house, five families, 200 years of history” is the idea behind a new permanent exhibit at the National Museum of History, Behring Center, in Washington, DC. The museum moved a 2 ½-story house from Massachusetts to the museum’s second floor, and turned it into an exhibit that tells the stories of five families who lived there and how they relate to American history. The house and its inhabitants lived through colonial times, the American Revolution, slavery and abolition, immigration and industrialization, to World War II.
