In our December 2006 issue, we invited webmasters with sites showcasing their family histories to enter Family Tree Magazine‘s Best Family Web Site Contest. The potential reward: a software package from RootsMagic <www.rootsmagic.com> and GenSmarts <www.gensmarts.com>, as well as Site of the Week honors on our home page.

The magazine staff selected five finalists, then we let you decide the winners. Hundreds of magazine and e-newsletter readers logged on to our Web site to vote for their favorites. We’re proud to present the three stellar sites that came out on top:

Our lnnes Tree and Tangled Branches <www.tribalpages.com/tribes/mle2u2> took first for creator Emily Smith’s friendly approach, easy navigation, and especially the depth of genealogical data. “The research is amazing,” noted one voter.

Both runners up, Kerry’s Genealogy WebSite (now offline) by Kerry Kelley and Cees Kloosterman’s The Genealogy of the Kloosterman Family <www.kloosterman.be>, got high marks for design and organization. “It’s easy to find her surnames,” said a Kerry voter. Kloosterman fans praised the site’s multilingual presentation. Congrats to all three winners!
